Donors

The Mercedes Zachariassen Foundation is based on the bequest made by Ms Elfe Mercedes Zachariassen, the value of which was FIM 117,967 in 1980. As specified by the donor, the proceeds of the Foundation must be used to support research focussing on the illnesses of domestic animals. Such research includes studies that promote knowledge and understanding of the essence, genesis and transmission of animal diseases; studies that are related to the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases; and veterinary studies that investigate and reduse the impact of environmental factors on animal health.

The Helvi Knuuttila Foundation is based on the bequest made by veterinarian Helvi Knuuttila to the Small Animal Clinic of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the value of which was FIM 599,481 in 1986. In accordance with the donor's will, the entire proceeds of the Foundation must be used to support and promote the operations of the Small Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Such operations include granting scholarships for the staff for professional continuing and supplementary education, organising in-house training, supporting research in the field and enhancing other activities related to the Clinic's ability to provide services. The Foundation's operations are planned, its finances monitored and its grants awarded by a committee elected for a two-year term.

The Meeri and Pentti Suhonen Foundation is based on the deed of donation made by the siblings Meeri and Pentti Suhonen. The deed of donation from 1997 granted the Finnish Veterinary Foundation ownership of and right of possession to a share in a housing company in Helsinki. The proceeds from this donation must be used to promote of the treatment and research of dogs and other small animals.
